Special Edition !!!

 Special Edition will post every time there is an Event!
 Our Level 3 Team is the new Texas Team State Champions 2011 !!!  Fantastic meet,lots of teams and good athletes,we were the best! It was a great experience for all of us,not just to get first place,but to be together,do our job professional,cheer and support each other and of course,have Lots of Fun !!!
 Congratulations everybody for a great success,I know we'll have more info and stories and pictures coming soon!

Elevator or not?

It's a reflex,as soon as you step into the mall,to look for the elevator or escalator.You don't see the stairs right close to you,circle around a while to find your way,get in line and wait to get up,realize your kids(friends)are missing!!! If you ask the coach,he'll say go up with the going down escalator!Challenge yourself!
 The convenient way to get somewhere is not always the shortest,smartest and easiest solution.In training and practice,convenient equals failure,and if you practice long term,you waist the most valuable thing: TIME.It isn't reversible,you need to handle and use with care and get the most out of it! Team up with yourself,coach,trainer,mate,and keep the practice simple: intense,challenging and fun.Time will fly by,but you will be a better athlete,ready to do it again.

Are you in a Great Shape ?

   More or less,all of us have a good attitude about being in shape.What is important to realize,admit,is that every person will "subscribe"to a standard and will work around it,setting up and reaching goals,making adjustments and looking for feedback,getting educated and informed!
  Lets set up a High Standard for our work out and for ourselves,it will give us respect,trust and confidence for what we do and more important,for who we are.You will always be in the best shape if you always "Do",never Wait,Postpone,Delay.
  I recommend the "supervisor",honest,straight forward,energizing.Coach,personal trainer,teammate,friend,you need someone to trust.The higher the level of your workout,the stronger the credentials of your supervisor! Find the right one and you will shape up in no time!!!

Walking,jogging,running,biking?

  By definition,the athlete is in a perpetual competition,with himself or others,trying to overpass and overcome limits and obstacles! There are many of those obstacles and always in the right spot for each individual,regardless the level or capacity.
  The "walking through biking" sequence represent you,the athlete,taking the right steps in becoming a complete,well trained and prepared for the next competition individual.
  Most important,"early wake ups",the earlier the better!Some do,on their own,some have the parents involved,others the coaches,few have role models.All together have the greatest advantage if they get guidance early in their carrier,if they get educated about the principles and the common sense that makes Sport Activities so fun and diverse.
  The challenge is the key to discover,recognize and guide the athlete,to make him believe,to get him to be one of the best in the field,to show him how to step down when it's time,to force him to raise the bar when needed,to cherish the moments with others!
  Lets all start walking,and if some are biking already,look for the hills and high peaks !

Do you have what it takes?

  I'm going to start a series of short articles and talk about the concept of being an Athlete,about the time and dedication someone will invest in achieving goals,build confidence and become a better person.
  If you think there is a little,or a lot in there that makes you get involved in sport activities,practice a sport,or love and respect the sport,you have to take the first step and answer a few questions,they are simple and in relationship with anyone trying to become a better athlete.
  1.Do you enjoy early wake ups,walking,jogging,running,biking?
  2.How often do you feel like you are in the best shape?
  3.Do you prefer your kids game(competition)or the TV national leagues?
  4.How quick are you.finding the escalator or elevator at the mall?
  5.Do you like counting the calories in every meal and snack?
  6.How many of your friends are involved,talk and do sports?
  7.Will you pick Hawaii or China for your dream vacation?
  Don't forget to be honest!!!I will talk around each question,get all the comments together and in the end we are going to decide if we have what it takes!!!

Do it again !

     
    Sport,school,job,life,they all interconnect and have something in common: the engine to put everything in motion,the Training.We all know,and learn,and study,and teach others about it,we follow ideas,philosophies,studies and models.
    The Training give us the power to get better in everything,it can be very simple or incredible complex and has one ordinary concept at the base: the Repetition-in sport I will call it "do it again".An old Latin dicton says "Repetitio mater studiorum est"-The repetition is the mother of learning!
    What always sets apart the individuals and also the teams is the quality of training.The coach will say do it again... but what comes right after this words will make the difference.
    I always find a way to give the athlete some feedback:a good word,a correction,a drill to do,a warning sign,or just a look! And in respect for training I expect my gymnasts to pay attention.When they do,my job is easy and we get there in no time,when they don't and start going in circle I have to push and get them back.
   Every coach has a formula for success in training,something like "try,do,repeat,adjust,do it again,stop,start over".I have my own secret formula and only share with my athletes !!!
   The respect we build in the relationship coach-athlete is crucial in training and has a great impact on the long run-high level,national competitions,injury prevention,endurance training.I do my training along with my gymnasts and learn every day a little from everyone,and make adjustments to my methods,so when it comes to "do it again",we are all going to do better.

Looking good!

     The weekend is not over,we have Level 4's competing today,the 3's are waiting team results today,5's and 6's did a great job and took home first place Team Banner.Amazing too see our gymnasts gather together and put everything they got on the table,manage to show,and score and be so sharp and professional looking.Every time we go to meets  with these fantastic teams I realize how strong a group can be and how much we can acomplish just by giving  trust and confidence.
    More about our "little people" next week.

Time to Compete!

  Long weekend ahead,Level 3's are on today,5's and 6's on Saturday and Level 4's on Sunday.
  It is going to be a long meet for all our levels,the sessions are loaded to extreme and we all need to pack a lot of calm and concentration to make it work smooth and get good results.
  Let's look at the bright side,gymnastics is big in the area,many gyms out there,none as strong and established as Texas Best!!! More gym clubs,more gymnasts,more competition means more progress for our kids and our unique sport.And they are all ready to take the challenge and become the best and perform with success.We have a lot to learn together in our journey and  parents should give all their trust,to coaches,to our program,to gymnastics,and make our community  strong.
  Be patient and have fun!
